Brian Zimmerman is a writer and jazz musician living in Chicago. A graduate of the University of Florida, Brian spent a year in New York City studying under columnist and preeminent jazz critic Gary Giddins. A jazz trumpet player of 16 years, Brian has played in two Florida All-State Jazz Ensembles and toured Europe with the official charity band of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Brian wants to change the way people think about jazz, because for him jazz is more than just music; it’s a broad and limitless phenomenon, evident in everything from literature and poetry to painting and film. His blog is dedicated to exploring jazz in all of these various forms, as well as its impact on society, history, and culture.
